Join us at The Ebenezer Theater for a special author conversation presented in collaboration with Shore Lit and the Talbot Historical Society. NPR Best Book of 2025 author Elizabeth Evitts Dickinson will discuss her latest work, Claire McCardell: The Designer Who Set Women Free. A Frederick, Maryland native, McCardell is credited with revolutionizing American fashion through her pioneering ready-to-wear designs and her rejection of the restrictive, hyper-feminine silhouettes favored by many of her male contemporaries.

Step inside the storied world of White House entertaining with Frederick J. Ryan, Jr., former publisher and CEO of The Washington Post and author of the award-winning
Wine and the White House: A History. In conversation with Anita McBride, former Chief of Staff to Laura Bush, Ryan will explore the role wine has played in presidential hospitality from George Washington to today, from historic menus and memorable toasts to the rise of American wine at state dinners. Guests will have the opportunity to meet Ryan and have books personalized following the talk. Presented by Bluepoint Hospitality and Flying Cloud Booksellers in partnership with the White House Historical Association, with an optional dinner at Bas Rouge offered separately following the event.
Tickets are available with a copy of the book for $75 and without a book for $35.
